XAVIER COLLEGE PREPARATORY SENIOR CHEYENNE WOODS NAMED TO NHSGCA GIRLS GOLF ALL-AMERICAN TEAM
Xavier College Preparatory is pleased to announce that senior Cheyenne Woods has been named to the National High School Golf Coaches Association Girls All-American Team. Woods is one of five girls in the nation to receive this honor.
The senior led Xavier to win its 25th 5A Division 1 State Golf Championship last year, breaking the national record for the number of State Golf championships. Woods also won the individual State honors at the State tournament and was named to the Arizona All State Golf Team.
“Cheyenne is a leader, both on the golf course and in the classroom,” said Sister Lynn Winsor, BVM, CMAA, Vice Principal for Activities and Athletics and golf coach. “She is a focused student, community volunteer and player; a strong role model for other student athletes.”
Woods volunteers at First Tee of Phoenix and is a member of Xavier’s Unity and Diversity Club. “Xavier has provided me with great opportunities in education and in my sport,” said Woods. “I’m challenged in school and I’m challenged by my teammates to constantly improve and raise my game.”
The NHSGCA Awards are selected by section representatives of the National High School Golf Coaches Association. The awards are based on playing ability, academic performance, and involvement in community and other extra-curricular activities.
