XAVIER PREP HONOR CHOIR HITS A HIGH NOTE AT FESTIVAL OF GOLD

The Xavier College Preparatory Honor Choir, under the direction of Carol Rickel, placed first out of ten choirs at the “Festival of Gold” on March 28 in Chicago. The event was a national invitational for band, orchestra and choir, and ensembles were invited based on previous superior ratings.

In addition to their audition performance, the Xavier Honor Choir rehearsed and sang the morning Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard, IL and performed a concert at the retirement home for the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the order that founded and still serves Xavier.

“This was a great way to close out 14 wonderful years at Xavier,” said Choir Director Mrs. Rickel, who will be retiring from her position at the end of the school year. “I am so proud of the effort, passion and spirit that the students put forth to be the best.”
