The Mothers’ Guild of Xavier College Preparatory will host its 36th Annual Holiday Dinner and Auction, I’ll Be Home for Christmas, on Saturday, November 8, 2008. The largest fundraiser for the Xavier Mothers’ Guild, this event began as a holiday craft boutique in 1968.
I’ll Be Home for Christmas will begin with a silent auction featuring over 400 items and culminate in a dinner and live auction. An estimated 800 guests will be in attendance, including current Xavier families, alumnae and friends of Xavier. The event will showcase the talent of Xavier students as the Honor Choir performs and select students enact a living nativity scene.
“Xavier’s Holiday Dinner and Auction is a time-honored tradition, and this year we’ve captured that warm, nostalgic ‘home for the holidays’ feeling,” said Teresa Malkoon, event co-chair and a Xavier alumna. “We look forward to welcoming current families, alumnae, and the community to Xavier’s campus to kick off the holiday season and support a great cause.”
All proceeds from I’ll Be Home for Christmas will go toward Founders Hall on the Xavier campus. Live auction items include a one-week getaway to a beautiful house in Manzanillo, Mexico, complete with food, beverages and a driver, a custom oil painting by Xavier dad and world-renowned artist Tom Pomeroy, and an FBR Greenskeeper Pass with exclusive access to private facilities. Other unique auction items include highly coveted parking spaces on the Xavier campus and, available this year only, treasures from the Sisters’ original convent.
Invitations may be obtained by contacting Julie Wesley at (602) 840-1191. For additional information, a full list of auction items, and donation opportunities, please visit the event web site at http://xcp.maestroweb.com or contact co-chair Loretta Aja at (602) 463-9186.
